the Beginning: Auburn University Track and Field Team
Victoria and Marcus couldn’t be more darling! These two love birds met when Victoria joined Auburn’s track and field team as a thrower her freshman year. To her surprise there was a tall, handsome, and strong shot-putter going into his second year on the team as well and he caught her eye! They spent a lot of time together out on the field and at church, which grew their friendship stronger and stronger. Marcus realized that he was completely smitten with Victoria when he preferred to spend more time with her than his guy friends – they were literally each other’s best friends! And because they had grown such a strong friendship, once they started dating they knew it was something that would last a lifetime. The normal things that they used to do together as friends were filled with joy and butterflies as they embarked upon this new dating relationship and aged friendship…could it get any sweeter?! The connection these two share is evident through their excitement for the ceremony to start, their endless smiles and giggles with each other, and their ability to get into their own little world even when surrounded by others. They were made for each other.
the Ceremony: Cornerstone Church Auburn, AL
Marcus and Victoria held an intimate and sweet ceremony at their church in Auburn, AL. Instead of having a large bridal party, they enjoyed the love and support of their friends and family from the audience. The lights in the room lit both of them so radiantly that they really stood out and brought everyone’s focus on their union. As their first act together as husband and wife, they decided to share communion in view of the shared faith they have in Jesus’ love and sacrifice for them. Marcus’ father gave a beautiful message filled with wisdom and encouragement as they committed their lives to each other. The focus was on three simple words with profound implications in a marriage; enjoy, embrace, and forgive. Oh how I wish I could share the whole message!
In between the ceremony and reception we had the joy of carpooling all over Auburn University to grab portraits of Victoria and Marcus in significant places. We first went to Samford Hall which is simply magnificent and then stopped by Auburn’s track and field facility. Unfortunately the gate was locked, but we still got some really sweet shots overlooking their field! We ended at the Jule Collins Smith Museum for the celebration.
the Reception: Jule Collins Smith Museum Auburn, AL
The Jule Collins Smith Museum was absolutely stunning with a view of the sunset no matter where you were! The celebration fit so beautifully there with the twinkle lights strung over the patio dance floor, view of the lake and sunset, a light color palette, and delicate flowers by Opelika Florals (who also did an amazing job at last weeks wedding too, which can be seen here)! They certainly nailed it with the food and DESSERTS… yes desserts… plural! Ursula’s catering provided an amazing dinner spread, which was then topped off with not only delicious cake, but donuts AND Bruster’s Ice Cream! All this was accompanied by a full dance floor the entire night thanks to DJ Tanner with The Music Guys! What.a.night. A couple so in love and who loves to dance…it couldn’t have been more fun!
We are so thankful for all the vendors that made this day flow seamlessly and beautifully!
