the beginning: Ohio
Kelsey and Brett met through an online dating site, a fun and mysterious way to meet someone! Much like the way Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan met in “You’ve Got Mail”. The two each wanted to find a soulmate who was truly looking for a once in a lifetime love! They were tired of meeting people who didn’t genuinely want a serious relationship. The two began talking on the site and had an immediate connection. After they went on their first date, then soon after their second, and immediately following their third, both Kelsey and Brett knew that the feelings they had for each other were undeniable. On their first date, Kelsey took notice of how open and honest Brett was. She felt so connected to him! This incredible couple has bonded so strongly together since their very first encounter. Their trials and tribulations together have proven that they are absolutely meant to be together! Kelsey’s love for Brett’s smile, laugh and genuine-self compliments Brett’s love for Kelsey’s ability to light up a room and continually strive to be the best person she can be. Their love for each other is so lasting and has been since day one! They are the epitome of true love!
(our beginning: Ohio. haha I have to share this tid-bit…Kelsey and I were 5 year old neighbors and best friends. (She was my maid of honor as I married my neighborhood boyfriend…so special!) haha. Unfortunately we moved while we were still very very young to GA, but in Facebook fashion we reconnected a few years ago. When I saw she was engaged we messaged each other in excitement – then she honored me by asking Randall and I to capture her wedding day! I couldn’t be more thankful we did!)
the ceremony: Shangai Resort & Marina at Norris Lake
This destination Norris lake wedding couldn’t have been more intimate and memorable for this couple. Brett’s family grew up enjoying vacations at Norris Lake and so as soon as Kelsey met Brett she had the pleasure of joining them on Norris Lake. Many of the other friends and family at the wedding had also spent time at the lake, so it was a special way for everyone to experience the lake celebrating such love as Kelsey and Brett share! They decided to have their ceremony on the floating marina with the guests seated under a white tent. The wedding party stood just outside the tent which made for really sweet pictures as they were all highlighted by the natural light while supporting Kelsey and Brett! Kelsey and Brett shared hand-written vows with each other followed by something I had never seen before; they took a piece of rope with sliding knots and slid both knots together to create one large “love” knot. After the ceremony, the quickly transformed the ceremony into the evening reception table settings, while guests enjoyed the best cocktail food…ever. So.so.good.
the reception: Shangai Resort & Marina at Norris Lake
This reception you guys was so much fun. But before I rave about the night of fun, let me just say cheers to Kelsey and Brett (and their amazing family and friends) who made all of it possible! The handmade details were absolutely amazing and done to the “t”. I loved the flow of having the indoor space reserved for food/bar, football game watching, and warmth from the chilly evening, along with all of Kelsey’s crafty decor and guest gifts. Her dad even packaged honey from his beehives back home, YUM. As you’ll see, the tables were decorated with an array of painted mason jars, flower boxes, and more holding gorgeously arrayed flowers with pink, orange, coral, and green hues. That mixed with the navy could not have been more classy! Now for the part that had us belly laughing and rocking out all night…they had My Sister Sarah, a local band from Ohio come and perform into the evening under the twinkle-lit tent. They were the perfect combination of amazing musicians (playing a great playlist mix between their songs and really-good covers for popular songs), entertaining performers, and talented MC’s. Guys, the dance floor was full THE entire night…so as you can imagine it was hard to choose our favorites from the reception haha. Something else special to note, is that everyone who played a part in making this day so perfect for Kelsey and Brett were connected as friends and family; the make-up artists, wedding coordinator, table decor and dessert display, and more.
